Donation to BHF

Gresford Sailing Club Model Boats recently presented Mr Andy Green (centre back row) with a cheque for £147 as a donation to The British Heart Foundation. The money was raised by the sale of the modelling goods donated by Mrs Evans from her late husband, Geoff’s estate. Geoff was a member of Gresford Sailing Club. Andy Green said that he was delighted  to attend to accept the cheque and thanked the club and Mrs  Evans.

Bill Jones (Back row Left) said that Mrs Evans was delighted at the amount raised  and it was her wish that Geoff’s friends presented the cheque to BHF

Hi all we hope you are all keeping safe and well in these worrying times.

As you are all aware there is no sailing at the club until further notice but we will let you know as soon as we are able to safely organise any activities at The Flash whether for dinghies or model boats.

Even though we are not using the club we still need to keep things going and this has costs so thank you to all who have renewed their membership.

Normally there is a £10.00 surcharge for either joining or for late renewals however if any body wants to join or renew we are waiving this fee for this year. So please consider being a member and help keep your club going ready for when things get back to some sort of normality.

In the meantime we are going to organise virtual racing which can be done via a PC or a phone/tablet(app available on line to download) this will be available to all paid up members. We will either run individual races or a series of race (just waiting on the Sailing Secretary to arrange this).

As the virtual racing is all from the comfort of your home all can join in so the model boats can show off their skills against the dinghy sailors(they should be better due to being used to sail out of their boats)

If you would like to join in with the Virtual Racing then  please email your Commodore Kevin and he will add you to the list

Covid 19

In the light of HM Government’s announcements about the Corona Virus, it is with great regret that the Committee has decided that we have no option but to close the Club to all sailing and social activity IMMEDIATELY.

The Pursuit series and the first 6 weeks of the Wednesday evening handicap will be cancelled and the committee will review the next scheduled series at a later date.

For clarity, there will be no entitlement to refunds of Club membership fees as this is a situation totally beyond the control of the Club.
Please look out for further notices that may be published from time to time by e-mail and posted on this website. Also, please help us by spreading the word and making sure all your sailing friends are aware of the latest situations, as they arise.
Your Committee will keep the situation under constant review and will make any adjustments as and when it is deemed necessary or appropriate.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Kevin Forbes, Commodore

Happy Christmas

Posted on Updated on

Hi everyone it’s Christmas time again Santa has brought us some water at The Flash so sailing will be better, let’s hope that it stays up for 2020 and we can all enjoy the events throughout the year,a full calendar will be issued after the AGM in February. We have seen a few new faces in 2019 so let’s hopethey continue along  with anyone else who want to learn to sail or just enjoy the close sailing that is available at The Flash.

If anyone wants any information about any aspect of the club or has any suggestions as to how we could make being part of the club better and more enjoyable(any comments are not made public unless you want them to be)

As a thought in these days of global warming just think that sailing is virtually a carbon neutral sport so do your bit for our planet and go sailing.

We hope you get what you want for Christmas.

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year
